The Alma PIXEL System

PIXEL is the most up-to-date and advanced form of what is commonly called ‘fractional lasers’. Made up of pixels, this highly advanced ablative laser system is ideal in the treatment of hyper-pigmentation, sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles and scarring.

What happens during the treatment?

AAs PIXEL is an ‘ablative’ laser, it is important that our patients feel as comfortable as possible. Prior to beginning the procedure, the skin is prepared and a topical anesthetic cream applied.

PIXEL is then set according to the patient’s specific needs and treatment commences. The PIXEL laser is held over the skin and passed over the treatment area. As the laser passes over the skin, it breaks down the bonds in the epidermis leaving a series of small dots on the skin where the PIXELS have ablated it. Post-treatment- ice and medicated creams are applied.

How does the treatment feel?

Although the skin has been treated with a topical anesthetic cream, it may still be possible to feel the PIXEL laser. The best way to describe the feeling of PIXEL is that of mild sunburn. However, sometimes, in order to achieve maximum results the treatment can be made more intense and can, therefore, be more uncomfortable.

How many treatments will I need?

It all depends on why you are having the PIXEL treatment. For wrinkles, it may be anything from one to three. For deeper acne scars, you may require up to five. A full skin analysis will be initially carried out to give you a clearer idea of what you will need.
