Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

At Dermalase, we are committed to using only the most advanced and results-driven products which are registered and compliant with governing medical bodies.

What is dermal filler?
Dermal filler is designed to give volume and to correct areas of asymmetry or areas where there may be a ‘depression’ or ‘hollow’ such as the cheek area or chin. Made from material which is compatible with the human body, the filler is eventually absorbed by the body and used up in our metabolic processes.

At Dermalase we use different types of filler depending on the situation. Some of our fillers last for up to 9 months, others up to 18 months. We are very keen to stress that we do not endorse the use of ‘permanent filler’ or anything that claims to last for longer than 2 years. Patient safety is our main concern and the products that we use ensure this philosophy.

The dermal fillers we favour are:

Uma Jeunesse: A British product which is hyaluronic-acid based and is ideal for correcting lines around the nose and mouth and for filling depressions in the chin, nose and earlobes. The beauty of Uma Jeunesse is that it is well-tolerated in most skins, redness and swelling are minimal, and its molecules adapt well to tissues meaning that lumps are rare.

Ellanse: This award-winning product is made up of totally-smooth polycaprolactone microspheres which give sustainable results. Ellanse is unique in that it is a ‘bio-stimulant’ which means the results continue to improve as collagen is stimulated.

Ellanse has proven total bio-absorbability meaning that it is completely metabolized by the body over time. It offers immediate corrections and gives stunning results in creating definition and symmetry in the cheeks, temples along with correction of the jaw line and chin.

The soft, instant results which Ellanse offers, make it the number one choice of filler in Dermalase clinic.

What happens during dermal filler treatment?
After a full history has been obtained, a local anesthesia and ice are used to numb the treatment area and to make the patient as comfortable as possible.

The Practitioner will mark on the area where to place the filler and then a fine needle is inserted into the point. Throughout the treatment, the Practitioner will ask the patient to keep sitting upright and looking at their face. This ensures total satisfaction and allows the patient to see how quick and subtle dermal filler can be. It is also an opportunity for the patient to request more be added, if they desire.

Is it painful?
Pain is subjective and for the most part, dermal fillers are comfortable. However, you are likely to feel pressure in the area and sometime a mild stinging sensation from the product.

What happens after treatment?
After treatment, there will be some swelling and redness which should subside within a couple of days. In certain cases, bruising may appear and the area can feel sensitive to the touch for a few days post-treatment.

We always see our patients 10 days after treatment to check their progress and ensure patient satisfaction.
